Type of wine: Red Denomination: DOC Varietal: 100% Aglianico Production zone: Montemarano CRU: Cinque Querce Type of soil: Clayey-Calcareous Vineyard density: 2500-3000 vines/hectare Age ofthe vineyard: 16-18 years Altitude: 550/600 meters above sea level Exposure: South-east Grape Yield: 7 tons/hectare Harvest: by hand in small cases Time of harvest: beginning of November/mid November Fermentation: in steel with temperature control Maturation: approximately 24 months in barriques and in large oak casks Finishing in the bottle: 6 months minimum Vine training system: espalier-guyot Organoleptic analysis: ruby red colour with garnet reflections. The visual analysis shows that this is not the classical simple, easy to drink wine. The nose is intense and deep, alternating fruity notes of ripe sour cherry with resinous notes of Mediterranean underbrush together with juniper berries, cloves and cocoa. In the mouth it is full, supple, silky and long-lasting. The aromatic persistence is long and complex. A wine of good breeding, suitable for a surprisingly long ageing. A wine to be matched with elaborate meat dishes and with seasoned cheese. 1t is practically a young Taurasi. |
